What I'm watching - February 2021

Greetings boy n girls ! This is what I’ve been binging this past month :

Everyone was going bananas over THE QUEENS GAMBIT and truthfully I had no interest in watching it , but alas there wasn’t much else to watch and so I decided to give it a try . And to my surprise it was really REALLY good . The main actress , Anya-Taylor Joy , was amazing in it . She definitely deserves an award nomination or two for her role . And the way the series is created , its rather quite addictive , I couldn’t wait to watch each episode one after the other . If you like her I highly recommend you watch THE VVITCH , which is am phenomenal creepy ass horror film . And riding on the ‘chess’ train’ you should definitely check out Toby Maguire in PAWN SACRIFICE. Based on a true story and Toby’s performance is possibly one of his best .

COBRA KAI season 3 recently came out and I polished it within 2 days . The first 2 seasons were excellent and the 3rd keeps up the quality . It’s so cheesy , campy , funny and so damn epic ! I love this show and I dont want it to end . I wish it could go on forever .

I always have an ‘in betweener’ series , series that I put on during cooking , or whilst I’m doing chores etc . SUITS has been my new ‘in betweener’ show . I was obsessed with it and binged the whole show , all 9 seasons of it . And now have gone back to re-watch the whole show . If you’ve never seen it , I highly recommend you check this out especially if you’re into court dramas

I’m quite a big fan of anime series , especially the ones coming out on Netflix . Recently they added BLOOD OF ZEUS and it’s ‘right up there’ with the rest of great anime series. As the name implies its based on Greek Mythology . Its a blend of 300 , CASTLEVANIA & IMMORTALS . If you’re into that sorta thing , give this a shot , I really enjoyed it .

DEATH TO 2020 is an hilarious mocumentary about the year , you guessed it , 2020 . I haven’t laughed this much in a long time . I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a good comedy.

If you haven’t seen BAND OF BROTHERS , especially if you’re a war buff , you’ll love this 10 part mini-series. At the time it was released it was the most expensive TV series ever made and it really has aged well . Its a true story following the brave young men of the 101st Air Borne infantry along their journey from the beginning to the end of World War 2

Two movies I had being dying to see were SUSPERIA and THE LIGHTHOUSE . Both are artsy fartsy horror style flicks and both are pure cinema magic . I love them both equally as much , but not for the faint hearted .

Unfortuantly there were some garbage films that I had the misfortune of seeing , and one of them was Netlfix’s OUTSIDE THE WIRE . Its such a shame this film is so bad , cos I really like seeing Anthony Mackie on screen .

If you’re looking for a nice simple good movie , I highly recommend THE DIG . Brand new to Netflix and was really surprised when I saw this . Ralf Fiennes and Carey Mulligan give Oscar worthy performances . A must see .

Athlete A is a shocking documentary revolving around the American Olympic Gymnastic Team and their allegations of mental and physical abuse by the staff and coaches .

My favorite film of this past month was PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN . I’m not gana give any details away but all I can say is WOW . Its a brilliant film with great performances all round especially from Carry Mulligan. This should be at the top of you watch list

Other films and series that I had watched:

Avengers Endgame

Avengers Infinity war

Transformers 1-5

Fury

Run all Night

Frasier
