What I'm watching - December 2020

In the world of Covid , like you all out there , I too am stuck at home unable to go anywhere or see anyone . And just like all of you , I too have been binging allot of TV . Its in this retrospect that I’d thought I start a monthly blog to share with you all what I’ve been watching . Ill give you all my opinions on some good movies/series to watch or even better , tell you which movies/series NOT to watch . Lets start off with 2 new series I started and finished .

First is Ridley Scott’s RAISED BY WOLVES . If you’re a fan of Ridley Scott , then you know what to expect . Action , Sci-Fi and twists. RBW is no different . A really great Sci-Fi show which shows that it had a huge budget behind it . Great acting and story telling , its also got the guy from Vikings in it (Ragnar) .

And speaking of VIKINGS , the final season is now on Netflix , I’m on episode 2 at the moment . Its a little slow to be honest and I’m waiting for things to pick up , but regardless its still a pretty good show .

The 2nd new series that I completed was LOVECRAFT COUNTRY . I was blown away by this show , so fresh and new and something totally different . Its based on the works of HP Lovecraft. Every episode felt likes its own mini show which made coming back after every week a joy to look forward too. I highly recommend you check this out . The lead actress, Jurnee Smollet , is amazing in this role and I’m sure come awards season she’ll be picking up allot for her performance.

I decided to binge watch the entire HARRY POTTER movies all in a row . When the HP movies came out , I wasn’t really much of fan . That’s not to say I hated it , I just didn’t find it that appealing to me . I never read the books and didn’t really care much for the story or the characters . But after so many years and having never seen all of them in a row or completed them , I’d thought I’d give it a shot . And to my delight I really enjoyed them . It took me a few days to watch them all back to back . They hold up pretty well after all these years (Even the earlier ones) . What I liked about them is that they were all so consistent with the tone , the direction and so on . I do think they ‘dropped the ball’ with the last two films , but regardless I still enjoyed it , even at my age of 37 ;) .

I saw GOONIES was on Netflix and after so many years of not having seen it again , I watched it again . This film was a staple of my youth . I loved this film immensely and even after having seen it for the first time some 20 years ago , I still feel like a kid when I watch it now . I still loved it immensely. All those feelings of youth came back . And it most definitely still holds up .

STAR TREK DISCOVERY Season 3 is also started last month . I’m up to date and currently on episode 9 and so far its been ‘meh’ . I was a huge fan of the first two seasons , especially season 2 . It was so EPIC and this season is a little lack luster , but I’m holding on for a good finale (Hopefully) .

I also went back to continue THE WALKING DEAD , I stopped watching it a few years ago , at season 7 and now I’m up to season 9 . It has become a better show and the lore is growing and the new characters and plot lines are getting better .

So far this month I haven’t seen anything bad and cant recommend anything to stay away from .

See you all next month
