The truth with 'likes' and 'followers'

Recently I was introduced to a website that can ‘audit’ an Instagram users account and show (although not 100% accurate) the amount of ‘real’ followers they have . Its a very simple process , all you do is head on down to igaudit.io , type in the account name and 'bobs your uncle’ . It will show just how many of your ‘followers’ are real or not . Now is use thee term ‘real’ a little lose . But this is a great tool to see who has bought 'followers’ and to see how many ‘real followers you have generated.

I got introduced to igaudit during my marketing campaigns for my company , whereby I was going to sponsor an high profile instagrammer to promote one of my companies products. And by using the igaudit tool , I simply put in their account name and I could see if there followers were legit of not .

I applied this methodology to the music industry , so many artists are getting caught up in the hype of social media and are simply just no focusing on their craft but instead their priorities are based upon likes and followers. I put this auditing tool to the test . firstly I audited my own Instagram account .

Now as you can see I have 68% ‘real’ followers . I have never purchased followers so I can only imagine that the remaining 32 % of my followers have suspicious activity and/or are fake accounts. I then audited two well known DJs from Cyprus and this is what the results show .

The results are looking a little more clearer . Now , I know that this is not an exact science and that the results are not 100% for certain BUT this does show a pattern of what some artists are doing. Artists are simply not caring anymore about their craft nor do they care/love what they do . Those of you who can easily say ‘ but Leandro the more likes and followers you have , the more successful and beneficial it can be’ . WRONG .

Allow me to elaborate, by purchasing followers , you are simply gaining fake accounts . Accounts that are not interested in your next gig , or who will purchase or stream your tracks. An account with 100 real followers will have more impact that an account with 10 000 fake followers , simply because those fake followers are not going to help/support you in the career . The 100 real followers you have can help you and support you far more than a bot would . You can easily purchase ‘likes’ , ‘followers’ and even ‘plays’ from different platforms. There are hundreds of companies who do this for a price, but in my opinion its simply just not worth it.

My outtake from this little experiment is this , don’t get caught up in social media, stay focused on what you do and on why you love what you do . Stay true to yourself and your dreams. Regardless if your dreams pan out or not , at the very least you can say to yourself that you were ‘real’ genuine and honest in everything you did which is a much admirable quality than being an ‘fakester’ . And always remember the ‘real’ people in your lives , not spam bots from all over the globe .
